Governance Arrangements
The Local Governing Body at St Winifred’s Catholic Primary School is made up of 10 Governors, these are:
- 6 Foundation Governors – Appointed by the Bishop of Salford.
- 2 Parent Governors – Elected by Parents.
- 1 Staff Governor – Nominated by the Staff body and appointed by the LGB.
- The Headteacher.
The term of office for Governors in between 1-4 years.
The LGB meets half termly. Local Governors also have links to specific aspects of school development and to those areas covered by their statutory responsibilities (such as SEND and Safeguarding).
There are also ‘ad – hoc’ committees that meet, if required, to consider pupil discipline, staffing appeals and complaints.
The LGB is supported by a Professional Governance Partner who records the decisions made in the minutes, provides administrative support to the LGB and ensures that Governance is compliant with statutory requirements.

Governors Attendance Record
The LGB meets six times per year. Decisions made by the LGB must be made in person, so attendance is an important part of a Governor’s role in making informed decisions. Decisions may only be made where 50% (the quorum) of Governors in post are present at a meeting.
